Trigger point therapy, also known as myofascial release or pressure point massage, involves the application of gentle yet firm pressure to specific areas along the body called trigger points. This aims to release tension within the fascia, a crucial fibrous tissue encasing musculoskeletal structures. Stress, injury, poor posture, repetitive movements, or inadequate nutrition can render the fascia inelastic, leading to pain and restricted movement. Trigger point therapy seeks to restore normalcy, alleviate pain, and reduce the risk of further tissue damage.

Trigger points, often colloquially referred to as “knots,” can manifest anywhere in the body but are commonly found in the shoulders, back, and hips. These areas experience increased tension and stiffness due to factors like stress, illness, or injury. Fascinatingly, trigger point pain may be referred from other parts of the body, emphasizing the importance of consulting with a skilled physical therapist for a comprehensive evaluation.

HELIX Performance Physical Therapy understands the effectiveness of myofascial release in treating various conditions, including sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, golfer’s and tennis elbow, whiplash, osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder, headaches, migraines, neck and back pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, and Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder.

While many physical therapy services involve active patient participation, trigger point therapy allows for a more passive, restorative experience. During your initial consultation, our physical therapists will conduct a thorough assessment, gathering a patient history and performing a physical examination to tailor a precise plan of care.

If you’re grappling with acute or chronic pain, take the initiative to contact HELIX Performance Physical Therapy in Danville, CA, at (925) 222-5101. Can’t say enough about Wes

I hurt my leg training for a marathon and after working with him a few months, my leg feels GREAT! I just got home from a trip to Europe that I was a little worried about. I felt 100% the 2nd or 3rd day in Paris - maybe it was the 12-13 miles we were walking every day, maybe it was the French bread/wine, maybe it was both. Since i've been back, i've been riding my (indoor) bike too, just trying to get my leg stronger (still going to the gym, still doing my exercises).

THANK YOU for all of your efforts, your knowledge, your patience. I couldn't have done it without your guidance.  And it is 100000% appreciated.

Skilled and very engaging

I found Wes while he was at Diablo PT via Yelp when I needed help with severe sciatic pain. I was able to schedule sessions with Wes and was amazed at his knowledge, skill and very engaging personality.

At no time did I ever feel that I was getting a "cookie cutter" problem. He listens very well and works with you as an individual to provide exactly what you need.

I can't say enough good things about Wes and how much he helped me fully recover and get even better than I was before my injury.

I feel better each time I leave

Wes Anderson is one of the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is professional, bright, explains everything he is doing to strengthen my body, and I feel better each time I leave. He does not just give you a massage. He is breaking down tight muscles and gives me more flexibility and movement.
