Key Components of Return to Sport Testing:

Functional Movement Assessment:

RTS testing starts with a comprehensive evaluation of an athlete’s functional movements. We analyze fundamental actions related to their sport, such as running, jumping, cutting, and pivoting.

Strength and Endurance Testing:

Assessing specific muscle groups’ strength and endurance is crucial for determining physical readiness and addressing imbalances developed during rehabilitation.

Cardiovascular Fitness:

The health of the cardiovascular system is a critical consideration. RTS testing includes assessments of aerobic capacity and cardiovascular performance tailored to the demands of the athlete’s sport.

Sport-Specific Drills:

Athletes engage in sport-specific drills during testing, mirroring the demands of their chosen activity. This allows therapists to evaluate their ability to execute unique movements and techniques.

Psychological Assessment:

In addition to physical aspects, RTS testing considers mental readiness. Confidence, focus, and emotional stability are vital for a successful return to competitive sports.

Benefits of Return to Sport Testing:

Injury Prevention:

Identify weaknesses or imbalances to reduce the risk of re-injury before returning to sport, promoting a safer athletic experience.

Optimized Performance:

Ensure athletes return to peak performance levels, addressing physical and mental limitations empowering them to compete at their best.

Enhanced Rehabilitation Monitoring:

Collect valuable feedback and insight, allowing therapists to fine-tune rehabilitation based on individual needs for a more effective recovery.

Return to Sport testing takes a holistic approach, and includes physical, physiological, and psychological factors. Our sports physical therapists play a vital role in ensuring athletes return to sport safely, minimizing the risk of re-injury, and optimizing overall performance.

Can’t say enough about Wes

I hurt my leg training for a marathon and after working with him a few months, my leg feels GREAT! I just got home from a trip to Europe that I was a little worried about. I felt 100% the 2nd or 3rd day in Paris - maybe it was the 12-13 miles we were walking every day, maybe it was the French bread/wine, maybe it was both. Since i've been back, i've been riding my (indoor) bike too, just trying to get my leg stronger (still going to the gym, still doing my exercises).

THANK YOU for all of your efforts, your knowledge, your patience. I couldn't have done it without your guidance.  And it is 100000% appreciated.

Skilled and very engaging

I found Wes while he was at Diablo PT via Yelp when I needed help with severe sciatic pain. I was able to schedule sessions with Wes and was amazed at his knowledge, skill and very engaging personality.

At no time did I ever feel that I was getting a "cookie cutter" problem. He listens very well and works with you as an individual to provide exactly what you need.

I can't say enough good things about Wes and how much he helped me fully recover and get even better than I was before my injury.

I feel better each time I leave

Wes Anderson is one of the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is professional, bright, explains everything he is doing to strengthen my body, and I feel better each time I leave. He does not just give you a massage. He is breaking down tight muscles and gives me more flexibility and movement.

No matter what your issue is, you will get the best of care

I highly recommend Wes in Danville. Before going to Wes I had gone to several other places. Wes is, hands down, the one of the best. I saw him at his old clinic in Danville Diablo Physical Therapy. No matter what your issue is, you will get the best of care.

Super detail oriented, reviewed my surgery notes and stick with me through each rep to make sure I'm doing it right. Hands down the best PT experience l've ever had.
