Unlocking Your Body’s Potential: The Power of Neuromuscular Re-Education at HELIX Performance Physical Therapy

Ready to regain control of your body’s movement? Contact HELIX Performance Physical Therapy at (925) 222-5101 in Danville, CA, and embark on your journey to optimal rehabilitation.

In the intricate dance between nerves and muscles, your body’s movement patterns are finely choreographed. When trauma or various medical conditions disrupt this harmony, it’s time to turn to neuromuscular re-education. HELIX Performance Physical Therapy, located in Danville, CA, is here to guide you through this transformative process and help you rediscover the fluidity of movement that injury or impairment may have taken away.

Neuromuscular re-education is a therapeutic technique employed by skilled physical therapists to restore normal movement patterns in individuals facing neuromuscular impairments. When nerves and muscles experience damage, the intricate communication between them is disrupted, leading to abnormal movement patterns stored in our memory.

The process of neuromuscular re-education involves a multifaceted approach:

  • Manual Techniques: Skilled therapists employ techniques like Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) to facilitate a return to normal movement.
  • Balance and Core Control Activities: These activities aim to retrain your body’s ability to maintain balance and control at its core, fostering a foundation for overall movement.
  • Therapeutic Exercises: Tailored exercises are designed to re-establish controlled movement patterns, addressing specific areas such as the Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar spine, and Appendicular skeleton.

The importance of re-establishing kinesthetic sense and proprioception cannot be overstated. When these neurological characteristics are compromised, maintaining proper posture becomes challenging, and muscle function is impaired. Neuromuscular re-education is the key to breaking this cycle.

Patients often present with joint tenderness and decreased motion, which, if left unaddressed, can lead to weakness and functional limitations. The timeframe for addressing symptoms is unique to each patient, but timely intervention is critical. Neuromuscular re-education precedes the development of strength and motion, setting the stage for a full recovery. Ignoring this vital process may impede the restoration of normal movement patterns.

At HELIX Performance Physical Therapy, we don’t just focus on symptoms; we view the patient as a whole. Our approach involves addressing all aspects of dysfunction to unlock your maximal rehabilitation potential. Our dedicated team is ready to guide you towards a life where movement is synonymous with freedom.

Ready to embark on your journey to optimal rehabilitation? Contact HELIX Performance Physical Therapy at (925) 222-5101 and let us help you be the best version of yourself in performing all your functional activities.

Can’t say enough about Wes

I hurt my leg training for a marathon and after working with him a few months, my leg feels GREAT! I just got home from a trip to Europe that I was a little worried about. I felt 100% the 2nd or 3rd day in Paris - maybe it was the 12-13 miles we were walking every day, maybe it was the French bread/wine, maybe it was both. Since i've been back, i've been riding my (indoor) bike too, just trying to get my leg stronger (still going to the gym, still doing my exercises).

THANK YOU for all of your efforts, your knowledge, your patience. I couldn't have done it without your guidance.  And it is 100000% appreciated.

Skilled and very engaging

I found Wes while he was at Diablo PT via Yelp when I needed help with severe sciatic pain. I was able to schedule sessions with Wes and was amazed at his knowledge, skill and very engaging personality.

At no time did I ever feel that I was getting a "cookie cutter" problem. He listens very well and works with you as an individual to provide exactly what you need.

I can't say enough good things about Wes and how much he helped me fully recover and get even better than I was before my injury.

I feel better each time I leave

Wes Anderson is one of the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is professional, bright, explains everything he is doing to strengthen my body, and I feel better each time I leave. He does not just give you a massage. He is breaking down tight muscles and gives me more flexibility and movement.

I highly recommend Wes in Danville. Before going to Wes I had gone to several other places. Wes is, hands down, the one of the best. I saw him at his old clinic in Danville Diablo Physical Therapy. No matter what your issue is, you will get the best of care.
