Concussion Therapy

Unmasking the Importance of Concussion Therapy: A Vital Step Toward Recovery

If you or a loved one have experienced a concussion, don’t overlook the potential for lasting damage. Reach out to HELIX Performance Physical Therapy at (925) 222-5101 in Danville, CA, to learn more about concussion treatment and therapy options.

In the world of injuries, visibility often dictates the urgency of care. A twisted ankle or a broken bone is conspicuous, demanding immediate attention and sympathy. However, not all injuries wear their severity on the surface. Concussions, often overshadowed by more apparent traumas, pose a silent threat to an individual’s well-being. At HELIX Performance Physical Therapy in Danville, CA, we aim to shed light on the critical importance of concussion therapy – a key step towards a full recovery.

Unlike a broken bone, a concussion doesn’t always present itself visibly. Whether from a sports incident, a car accident, or a simple trip and fall, a blow to the head can lead to a traumatic brain injury requiring immediate and ongoing care. The aftermath of such injuries isn’t always evident, and the misconception that a concussion is a fleeting problem perpetuates its underestimation.

Left untreated, a concussion can hinder growth in young children and accelerate the onset of dementia in older patients. The need for proper concussion therapy is paramount to ensure no lasting damage follows the initial trauma.

The severity of a traumatic brain injury can vary significantly, but the immediate response is crucial. In the initial hours and days post-injury, rest is the best treatment. Switch off stimuli, avoid excessive movement, and give your brain the time it needs to recover. While concussion therapy might not be an immediate recommendation, consulting with a healthcare professional is essential.

If symptoms persist after several days, HELIX Performance Physical Therapy is here to provide expert concussion therapy. Our skilled professionals assess the severity of the brain trauma and tailor strategies to reduce discomfort, alleviate symptoms, and improve brain functionality

Physical therapy isn’t just about exercises; it’s a holistic approach encompassing muscle training, aerobics, targeted massage, stretches, and even eye motion training. Vestibular therapy, a common component, helps you regain balance during lightheadedness. Under the guidance of our therapists, these strategies contribute significantly to improving your quality of life post-concussion.

Don’t underestimate the impact of a concussion. If you or a loved one have experienced a head injury, consult with a physician, and consider contacting HELIX Performance Physical Therapy at (925) 222-5101 in Danville, CA, to explore effective concussion treatment options.

Can’t say enough about Wes

I hurt my leg training for a marathon and after working with him a few months, my leg feels GREAT! I just got home from a trip to Europe that I was a little worried about. I felt 100% the 2nd or 3rd day in Paris - maybe it was the 12-13 miles we were walking every day, maybe it was the French bread/wine, maybe it was both. Since i've been back, i've been riding my (indoor) bike too, just trying to get my leg stronger (still going to the gym, still doing my exercises).

THANK YOU for all of your efforts, your knowledge, your patience. I couldn't have done it without your guidance.  And it is 100000% appreciated.

Skilled and very engaging

I found Wes while he was at Diablo PT via Yelp when I needed help with severe sciatic pain. I was able to schedule sessions with Wes and was amazed at his knowledge, skill and very engaging personality.

At no time did I ever feel that I was getting a "cookie cutter" problem. He listens very well and works with you as an individual to provide exactly what you need.

I can't say enough good things about Wes and how much he helped me fully recover and get even better than I was before my injury.

I feel better each time I leave

Wes Anderson is one of the best physical therapist I have ever had. He is professional, bright, explains everything he is doing to strengthen my body, and I feel better each time I leave. He does not just give you a massage. He is breaking down tight muscles and gives me more flexibility and movement.
